Ricardo Ramirez-Romero
I'm a biologist at the 'Universidad de las Américas-Puebla' (UDLA-P). In November 2004, I obtained a doctorate at the 'Université Paris XIII-Paris Nord' (Supervisors: Dr. Minh-Ha Pham-Delegue and Dr. Laure Kaiser), so I had the chance to live in Paris for five years. After this, in January 2005, I returned to Mexico and conducted a Postdoc for 2 years at the 'Instituto de Ecología A.C' (INECOL) (Laboratory of Dr. Martín Aluja). Since 2007, I have worked at the 'Universidad de Guadalajara, México' (UdG), first as an Associate Professor and later as a Full Professor. I performed research stays at Texas A & M University (Lab of Dr. Julio Bernal), the USDA in Florida (Lab of Dr. John Sivinski), the INRA at Sophia Antipolis in France (Lab of Dr. Nicolas Desneux), and was invited to perform an academic visit to the Tianjin Institute of Plant Protection, in the City of Tianjin, China. In 2019-2020, I conducted a sabbatical with Dr. Jorge Contreras Garduño at ENES-UNAM in Morelia, Mexico. To date, my scientific contributions encompass co-authorship on 64 articles in JCR®-indexed journals with over 1700 citations, excluding self-citations (h-index of 23, according to Scopus®). Additionally, my work includes 2 articles in non-JCR®-indexed journals, 7 outreach publications (with more than 14,000 views on Academia.edu), and 2 book chapters. I taught at UDLA-P (undergraduate level) and currently lecture at UdG (both undergraduate and graduate levels). I have actively supervised both undergraduate and graduate theses, with many of the students I have guided contributing as co-authors on publications in JCR®-indexed journals. Additionally, I have served or currently serve on thesis committees or as an examiner at my home institution (UdG), the Colegio de Posgraduados (COLPOS-Montecillo, Mexico), the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (Argentina), and the University of Pretoria (South Africa). Other of my scientific activities include Associate Editor for Pest Management Science (IF: 3.8, Q1, JCR®2024), Entomologia Generalis (IF: 4.6, Q1, JCR®2024), CABI A&B (IF: 2.7, Q2, JCR®2024), Neotropical Entomology (IF: 1.7, Q2, JCR®2024), Editorial Board Member of Biological Control (IF: 3.4, Q1, JCR®2024), and Section Board Member of Insects (IF:2.9, Q1, JCR®2024). Reviewer for 24 international journals (JCR®), for the Mexican Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI, Mexico), the National Institute of Nuclear Research (ININ, Mexico), and the AgreenSkills and AgreenSkills + program (France). Besides insects, I enjoy reading novels, philosophy, and history. Now reading 'Homo Deus' by Yuval Noah Harari. Previously, 'Grey Bees' by Andrei Kurkov.
